Daniel J. O’Brien has been named chairman of the board for Digitalsmiths Corporation, the digital video asset management technology company behind Videosense, the first patent-pending broadband video indexing and contextual ad-matching solution to integrate seamlessly with existing online ad networks. In this role, he will work with the management team to direct the overall strategy of the company including research, product development, sales and marketing.
Since December 2006, O’Brien has focused on strategy and business plan development for TV Anywhere, an IPTV company delivering a turnkey video solution to the domestic Tier 2/3 telecommunications companies. He will continue to serve in this role and as director of the board of Gotuit Media Corp., a developer of pioneering web and mobile video applications.
"Daniel’s background is the ideal fit for Digitalsmiths as his experience and leadership coupled with his firsthand knowledge of IPTV, broadband video and telecommunications make him uniquely qualified to help lead our company," said Ben Weinberger, CEO of Digitalsmiths.
"Videosense is a sophisticated technology that is poised to transform the broadband video advertising space" O’Brien said. “With the explosion of broadband content on the Internet and the incredible advertising revenue potential that exists for Videosense, I could not be more excited about taking on this role and working with this talented team."
Prior to joining Gotuit in April of 2005 O’Brien was the chairman and CEO of Brief Original Broadcasts. He served as High Speed Access Corp.’s president and CEO and was the president and COO of Primestar, Inc.
