Aggregate/Reconcile 3rd Party Data Sources

One of the unique capabilities of Digitalsmiths Seamless Discovery is its ability to collect, aggregate and reconcile 3rd party data sources.  The aggregation system has several connectors to well known 3rd party data sources, and can be customized to incorporate proprietary or internal data formats.  Additional data sources can be combined and reconciled with the existing metadata to deepen and enhance the search index.

Seamless Discovery integrates with EPG/linear scheduling solutions, so schedule data reconciliation is pre-processed rather than relying on the client application post-process results with high response latencies.  This speeds up time to market as well as making Digitalsmiths Seamless Discovery a more scalable solution.

EPG/Linear Schedule Integration

Digitalsmiths Seamless Discovery supports ingestion of linear scheduling data along with geographic and subscription information, helping viewers discover what relevant content is available and when.

Linear Schedule Data Ingestion

Digitalsmiths has integrated schedule data into our metadata from several industry standard sources.   Having this data already normalized and integrated into Seamless Discovery frees downstream applications from large and complex business logic to ingest and consolidate large amounts of schedule data.

VOD Content

Much like the linear programming schedule data, Digitalsmiths Seamless Discovery already has a fully aggregated library of VOD content that correlates to the network service provider’s catalog, allowing all content filtering to be completed before it is returned to the viewer.  Additionally, Digitalsmiths has the largest catalog in the world of deep time-based metadata related to film and TV content.  Additional 3rd party or proprietary metadata can be combined with the existing catalog through our customizable aggregation platform.

Data Provisioning & Format

Digitalsmiths Seamless Discovery aggregation system can accept data in a number of different ways including bulk ingests to bootstrap a system deployment or daily or hourly feeds that supply updates to the content library.  Digitalsmiths Seamless Discovery has completely configurable data ingestion components and can support and ingest any standard data format (JSON, XML, CSV, TSV, MRSS, etc.).

Integration

Metadata integration, much like data provisioning can be done in a number of different ways and is completely configurable and customizable.  The data aggregation system can pull data on a periodic interval from a feed or API, data can be pushed directly into the aggregation system through web service calls or data files can be dropped into “hot folders” via FTP or Aspera.

Flexible Business Rules

Digitalsmiths Seamless Discovery APIs support a complete and comprehensive query language that allows applications to express any business rules the destination application may have.  Because queries are all evaluated individually at runtime, application logic isn’t built into Digitalsmiths Seamless Discovery, which enables multiple applications to have different business rules and changes to the queries are reflected immediately in the results.  This approach allows downstream applications a great degree of freedom to adjust tuning parameters, perform A/B testing or develop new features without impacting other consumers of the APIs.

Scalability

Digitalsmiths Seamless Discovery was designed to scale to millions of simultaneous viewers from around the world.  Using a distributed, cloud-enabled architecture, Digitalsmiths Seamless Discovery query nodes can be easily deployed in any customer datacenter or in the cloud to scale to any request volumes that are required.  With the highly distributed nature of the platform there is no single point of failure in the system, making it resilient to hardware failures or network connectivity issues, and allowing for new nodes and server upgrades to be performed seamlessly and with no downtime.
